Dora Akunyili: A National Symbol of Integrity

By: Arc

President Obasanjo for all his faults (if any), could spot patriots (real recognizes real). He interviewed Dr. Akunyili after she returned £12,000 in unused medical funds to the Petroleum Trust Fund, gave her an appointment that changed her life and allowed her act on her hero origin story- losing her sister to fake insulin. She became NAFDAC, which did not exist before 2001, and her name became its synonym. Continue reading

Friday the thirteenth February 1976; this date means nothing to 99.9% of the total populace. To the staying .1 it was the date Nigerians saw their expectation of good administration snatched from them. Muritala Mohammed was killed in rush hour gridlock in and Lt. Col Dimka became public enemy number one. Meet 1976’s villain: Continue reading

Disclaimer: “I AM NOT A HATER, I AM ACTUALLY A BURNA BOY CRUSADER AND BELIEVE HE IS AMONG THE MUSICAL ELITE IN NIGERIA, AN ELITE LIST OF MINE THAT FEATURES DAREY, NNEKA, ASA, FELA, 2 FACE etc….”

I am just a disappointed fan, Burna Boy is a HUGE music talent and when I saw a NEW album- African Giant, I did a double back flip (In my mind though). This is the season of good music, not since D’banj has the musical gods smiled this hard on African music. Brown Skin Girl and the entire rave then this (Never mind whatever O.B.O is doing, yep, on that one I agree, I am a hater, promoted noise that one). Continue reading

Forbes list was first published in March 1987, if this compilation was done in the year of 1965 it would probably have featured Chief Festus Okotie Eboh

“….He was as rich if not richer than Dantata (1955’s wealthiest in West Africa) who owned 40% of the groundnut pyramids in Kanu and was wealthier than Ojukwu father and the Orizus.”

No reference to Dangotes, Otedolas or Elumelus, the guards have changed in recent years yet we must turn our gaze to Nigeria’s FIRST truly POWERFUL man. Continue reading

A year ago (actually last week), first thing that popped into my head at the mention of Lion heart was Jean Claude Van Damme’s signature Last fight winning kick. Right now it is safe to say that there is only one LION HEART, Genevieve Nnaji’s OBIAGU…

LION HEART—BRAVE HEART, One thing in common: DIRECTOR EXCELLENCE; Mel Gibson = Genevieve Nnaji Continue reading

Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (Ikemba)

I never met the great man, he hasn’t done much to offend me save for picking super model Bianca for companionship and snubbing his mates (how could Feminists miss that?). All opinions I have about him are formed by events and stories I have heard-history, documentaries, newspapers, elderly mouths. Every time I hear Ojukwu, I hear the Biafran War, I hear Civil War, I hear 1967-1970…Funny when I hear Gowon, all I actually think is ‘Nigerian’s past president.’ Before we get to meet the man- Ikemba Ojukwu, Let us go through the legacy he left us, how it happened and what I think, perhaps know, sparked events.
