Director and Writer: Biodun Stephens

It is the season of Faith based movies, after the hugely successful GOD CALLING; Biodun Stephens delivers another Faith themed master class. The full package, an emotionally charged story that would move you to tears as God’s peace washes over you at the end.

The movie didn’t have a cute Jesus/angel to sell (Ademola Adedoyin in God calling) and despite its many flaws, it dragged itself all the way up to 7 on my 1-10 movie rating scale. Blossom Chukwujekwu (Lamide) didn’t quite put up a great performance, still can be overlooked, as we have learnt from LEVI, it takes more than an awesome performance from the lead actor to make a movie. I would start out with the good: Continue reading

The day Nigeria gave me the final F**K YOU…I have tried so hard against all odds to believe in Nigeria. I have maintained my stance as a patriot. A very extreme tough task considering I have the Obsessive Compulsive Disease, I love to plan and plan and plan and love to see everything in apple pie order, everything working as it should be. The planets revolving around the sun on a pre-set axis, I am a son of God, a child of perfection. I expect, believe and hope for perfection. Somehow (Maybe because of my ruthlessness in my former life as Lestat or so) I was born to Nigeria, the worst place for an individual who craves order. There is nothing but chaos, pure sublime divine chaos here. Continue reading

On another fateful day, Ashapha and Shaibiru alighted from their blue range rover, dragged out their next victim who was barely conscious into a nearby bush.‘‘How many heads do we have so far and how many more are left?’’, Asphapha asked. ‘‘Nine and happily the last head we are to get’’, Shaibiru replied. They got to business, one holding the lady firmly to the ground as the other lifted up the sharp axe in a fearless manner like a warrior and down he brought it on her throat with speed; the head fell off and blood gushed out her lifeless body through her neck. Patiently they waited till she stopped shaking, chopped off her breasts, toes, and fingers, before cutting her up to pluck out her intestines then pushed her lifeless dismembered body down into the ravine that was not too far off. Allow me introduce the BEST WORST NOLLYWOOD MOVIE of 2018. Knockout Blessing is so bad the entire crew and cast should be applauded for making it through the movie. Someone actually paid for its publicity? I paid two thousand naira to watch this, money so not well spent, I could liken it to paying a 30,000 gate fee to watch Terry G and African China perform. I have no clue where to start from, I wish I can un-see this retina-neuronic poison.

First, I had the distinguished honor of being the only one in the movie theater (Genesis Deluxe cinema) 10 minutes before the movie started. Continue reading

A year ago (actually last week), first thing that popped into my head at the mention of Lion heart was Jean Claude Van Damme’s signature Last fight winning kick. Right now it is safe to say that there is only one LION HEART, Genevieve Nnaji’s OBIAGU…

LION HEART—BRAVE HEART, One thing in common: DIRECTOR EXCELLENCE; Mel Gibson = Genevieve Nnaji Continue reading

Life is a mystery, and with each day I live, it only gets even more mysterious and complicated.

Growing up a little boy, I knew just a handful of things. I knew I was a boy, I knew I was little (I got to hear ‘cute, fine, small boy’ everyday). I knew dad had money. I knew every Sunday I had to be early to church, and I was always one of the first, because the day before, mum would go through my Sunday box (a box specially set aside to house my church clothes) and iron a set for Sunday, all these so I don’t go late, so I get to hear every word in Sunday school. I knew Jesus died for my sins, I knew he was the son of God, and I knew God was merciful. I knew when someone shouted “Praise the Lord” in the church, we were to reply “Hallelujah”. I knew no matter what, I had to stay till church closed. In all I knew I was an Assemblies of God member, and as far as I was concerned that was what knowing God was all about. Continue reading

I lived only 32 years, I died in my youth, yet I left more mark on your country’s history than your 78 year old granddaddy Buhari or is it Jubril these days…My name is Emmanuel Arinze Ifeajuna (Popularly called Emma Vancouver or The Assassin, Tafawa Balewa’s Assassin). Continue reading
