Do not toss me far too deep lest I will drown

I can only bear so much even if I appear to be a clown

You see me wear a smile but a thousand layers below there is an indolent frown

I put up a show for you and perhaps for myself; a fleeting way to forget today’s down

Look into my eyes, do not be deceived by their sparkles, they could hold secrets of a town

Yet they are pinholes that bring to light the wretched pain my heart bears with every pound

The heartbeats: lub-dub

A sound that testifies to the presence of a soul still in a body

A sound that remains oblivious to the ears; unaware of its steady pounding

Lub-dub, lub-dub, lub-dub

Suddenly the intensity of this heartbeat is heard by your own very ears

Pulses increase, hands become sweaty, and butterflies find a lily garden in your tummy

You have been diagnosed with the symptoms of love.

At Death’s Door

The first bullet hit my hand, the second on my leg, my assailant’s face showed he wouldn’t stop at that……The third pierced my chest, don’t really know where it hit but I think my lungs because I wasn’t taking in enough air. The 4th, 5th,6th ,7th,8th ….what beast shot a human a dozen times. Continue reading

It’s a beautiful Spring Friday night. The dark skies sprinkled with its diamonds, the moon perfectly golden, and its lustrous aura radiating down to the flowers and grasses that are now reposed by the gentle breeze of nightfall. Deer emerge from the shadows of the woods, chasing each other and softly nibbling on the grasses beneath them. At the backdrop of these nocturnal festivities, mother duck and her ducklings are cocooned in a feathered embrace asleep. The night is indeed beautiful and quiet. From a far distance, indistinct sounds of music can be heard, blare of horns and subsequent siren sounds. It is a Friday night, remember. Continue reading

I feel it’s all staged, a very expensive publicity stunt…It is really difficult to swallow everything wholly and accept this as a sad story that can happen to any one of us…This is Tiwa trying to steal Beyonce’s thunder (It is so obvious she has Beyonce complex) in the wake of Lemonade at least only in Nigeria…That joke has been made already-photos showing Tiwa’s album cover for Zobo are everywhere…Where to begin? How crazy is this? A bill considered to carve out grazing zones for our Fulani herdsmen. Hours spent deliberating on this silly issue, God knows they should have better things to talk about…Imagine the luxury we have, land area to be set apart for cattle rearing in each state, each state! My God…Other countries are not running low on land area, THEY BASICALLY HAVE NO LAND and we want to reserve ours for cattle rather than super infrastructural development (we love Abraham so much don’t we?).

Good Day. What is going on? Who brought up this concept that there is some competition between male and female? What does the term feminist even mean? What in nature’s name is a misogynist, how can one go about hating females and still have “mother” and “lover”? There can never be Gender Equality, that’s a myth, at the same time there is no such thing as inequality, that’s one wholesome fabricated lie. X is X, Y is Y; X is never equal to Y and X is never greater than Y or Y greater than X unless numerical values have been equated to X or Y as Mathematics has taught us. Male and female are strictly parallel lines. Before I start off, may I say I am a man and I apologize in advance if I come off as supporting my sex but what choice do I have eh? I’d just go ahead and break it down. Please exit at this point if you are a bull-headed feminist or downright irrational being. Continue reading

I have a confession to make, I love to confess. See I’m a catholic born into the church. Been baptized, I’m a communicant and I’ve been confirmed. About holy matrimony or the holy order I’m still undecided. I’m a lieutenant, a soldier, one of Christ in the legion of Mary. In the past years I’ve managed to learn quite a lot about my faith and the church’s doctrine. It helps to know how to talk when doing “word battles” with our separated brethren. They bring up so many issues, what we are doing wrong and what we are not doing at all. Sometimes when they are bored talking about my Mary they bring up confession.
